Devastation hit me over the head
One great man has reached the end
He has touched the lives of so many
Forever ingrained in our memories
I remember applying for schools
Thinking which one should I go to?
Then I saw the band perform
That's when I was transformed
Yes, I went to band camp
There were sunny days as well as damp
But throughout the week he stood up tall
"Eyes With Pride" sure does say it all
Batman, and Phantom Of The Opera
Shows I remember with tears in my eyes
The joy of being part of that group
Humbles my essence as his memory survives
I cant say enough about this amazing man
It was an honor to be in the marching band
I will forever hold this man in my saddened heart
As will millions of others upon whom he put his mark.
