How many husbands do their best?
Is there one that tries more than the rest?
Many married women will talk about their man
Saying he's the one that always does all he can.
There are some that dont feel the same
Some think that theirs is pretty lame
Lounging around never lifting a finger
Drinking beer and watching the dust linger
But doing all you can just isnt enough
Put the extra effort in although it's tough
She will appreciate the love you give
Knowing that you want the love to live
Be strong for her when she needs to cry
Be able to shut your mouth and step aside
Listen to what she has to say
Stand by her even when she says "go away"
Knowing you are there will warm her heart
Even when she wants to rip you apart
Bring her a rose when she is feeling down
Make her turn upright that cute little frown
Support her decisions with logic and tact
Dont be afraid to show her the facts
Talk openly with mutual respect
This is what we all expect
I've been there myself and oh how I tried
And I'll be there again and thats no lie
But it wont happen until I know
That she isnt here just for the show
I write this poem with difficult thoughts
Trying to understand the life I've sought
I've learned what this is, this Husbandry
Inspired by believing in love's decree
